Sour Grapes

Mini album · Sep 28, 2026

NiziU released Sour Grapes, their first Korean mini album, on September 28, 2026, led by the title track of the same name. The song reworks Aesop's fable about the fox and the grapes, turning the dismissal of what cannot be reached into something closer to a declaration. Its five tracks are sequenced to read as a single fairy tale, closing on "Lullaby." The release shifts the group's promotions to Korea after building their career in Japan.

About NiziU

NiziU are a nine-member Japanese girl group formed by JYP Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment Japan through the 2020 reality-survival program Nizi Project. The members are Mako, Rio, Maya, Riku, Ayaka, Mayuka, Rima, Miihi, and Nina. The group is part of JYP's localization strategy of applying Korean idol training and production systems to a Japan-based act. They pre-released a digital EP, "Make You Happy," on June 30, 2020, which topped Billboard Japan's Hot Albums chart, and officially debuted on December 2, 2020 with the single "Step and a Step." That debut single reached number one on the Oricon weekly singles chart in its first week, ranking among the strongest girl-group debut sales on Oricon. NiziU went on to perform at the year-end Kohaku Uta Gassen and continued releasing Japanese-language singles and albums, establishing themselves as one of the more prominent fourth-generation acts operating primarily in the Japanese market, and they later expanded into Korean-language releases as well.
